Rust server not showing in the server list?

Updated 24 October 2026 · 2 minute read · Rust · By Exclsv Support

A new or restarted Rust server can take a few minutes to appear in the community list. You don’t have to wait: join straight away with the address from HQ.

Join straight away

  1. Copy the address from your server’s page in HQ.
  2. In Rust, press F1 to open the console.
  3. Type client.connect, paste the address and press Enter.

Help players find it

  • Give it a name nobody else uses. Facepunch doesn’t allow “official” in server names.
  • Add tags from Facepunch’s list, such as monthly or vanilla, under the server list settings in HQ. Pick at most one from each group; the browser shows up to 4.
  • New servers can take a few minutes to appear after each start, so search again after a short wait.

If it doesn’t work

It still isn’t listed after a while

Check the server is running in HQ and that players can join with client.connect. If they can, the listing just hasn’t caught up; if they can’t, open Health on your server’s Overview in HQ and choose Check now.

Can I use RustAdmin or BattleMetrics?

Not at launch. RCON is used by HQ only and isn’t open to outside tools. HQ’s console, player list and schedules cover the everyday jobs.

Still stuck? Ask on the Discord or email us.
