Minecraft Bedrock server guide: join, mods, settings and fixes
Updated 31 October 2026 · 3 minute read · Minecraft Bedrock · By Exclsv Support
Everything you need to run your Minecraft Bedrock server in HQ, in one page.
Join
- On a phone, tablet or Windows, choose Play, then Servers, then Add Server.
- Type the address and the port exactly as your server’s Join page in HQ shows them.
- Save, then join from the list.
Java players can’t join a Bedrock server. Xbox, PlayStation and Switch can’t type an address; see the console guide.
Mods
Bedrock has no mod loaders. Add add-on packs (behaviour and resource packs) on the Mods page; players download the resource packs from the server when they join.
Settings
Open Settings, then Game settings. Each setting has a plain label, one line of help and the game’s own default where HQ knows it. Most changes take effect at the next restart; HQ marks the ones that change straight away.
Backups and going back
HQ takes an hourly backup (Automatic backups) and keeps each for up to 48 hours, plus an off-site backup every 6 hours with 7 daily copies. To go back, open Backups, then Automatic backups, pick a time and choose Go back. Your world as it is now is kept, so you can undo it.
If it doesn’t work
“Outdated server”
HQ keeps the server on the current release. Update Minecraft from your device’s store.
The world uses too much memory
Large worlds and many players need a bigger size from Plan and billing.
